The founder of the company Seppo Tiittanen has been engaged in motocross as a hobby since the mid-seventies, right up to the first years of Totaltek. Even though his career has also included a period in industrial automation, motor sport has always been his most important focus of attention. With a background such as this it is only natural that Totaltek’s activities have always revolved around motoring. The other Totaltek employee, Annukka Tiittanen, has a background in the arts and handicrafts. As Seppo’s sister, she has, however, long been a follower of motor sports and is well familiar with the field
A small company - part of a way of life
The purpose of Totaltek is to remain a two-person company, which ensures that its flexibility and entrepreneurial way of life is at its best. As our turnover is constantly on the increase, we sub-contract out our activities when the workload sometimes becomes overwhelming.
Retailer network and service points
We have concentrated as much practical retailing as possible to our retailers. In this way, we can concentrate on our main focus of expertise, product development and testing. We have almost entirely kept the manufacture of carbide runners ourselves due to its requirements for flexibility and accuracy. The WP Suspension shock absorbers we represent are serviced in around forty locations in Finland; we only service the shock absorbers of customers involved in our testing procedures.
Technology and testing
We are constantly striving to improve our expertise including acquisitions of new equipment for assistance in the testing measures. We have one of the best available commercially available shock absorber dynamometers. In this way, we can perform a good deal of shock absorber testing indoors. This also speeds up the development of new products. Our newest acquisition is the data acquisition system we use to obtain information related to the functioning of suspension while driving.
Looking toward the future
The manufacturing of carbide runners is like the job of a baker. It will always be in demand. Active enthusiasts improve the handling of their snowmobiles by changing the skis and runners. Along the snowmobile routes, there are stones and gravel that wear the runners until they need replacing. The Totaltek runner is also the definite choice for the future with competitive prices.
It becomes difficult to increase the performance of the engine as the years go by. This is why the best way to increase speed is by improving the handling of the vehicle.
